
Today (10/2), the Athens Stock Exchange is consolidating its recent 14-year highs, with sellers taking the lead amidst the intense volatility abroad.
Contributing to this is the strong volatility abroad, where attention is turning to Donald Trump's upcoming announcements of tariffs on aluminum and steel imports, which may also affect Europe.
Specifically, in the first session of the new week, the General Index is down slightly by -0.37% to 1,552.47 points, losing about 5.5 points compared to Friday's close (1,558.83 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations extends over five points (from 1,552.13 to 1,557.25 points), with the turnover of transactions ranging at 6.5 million in the first 20 minutes.
On the board, now, Viohalco is retreating by almost 2.5% on the fear of US tariffs, as the Group's companies had a similar experience during Trump's first term. Beyond that, Titan Cement corrects slightly from recent records, following Titan America's successful listing on Wall Street.
The banking index, amid international uncertainty, registers small losses at -0.65% and 1,399 points, although it is still gaining around +9% since the beginning of this year.
Alpha's shares are limited to -0.88% and EUR 1.7445, Eurobank's shares follow at -0.83% and EUR 2.393, Piraeus' shares are trading at -0.73% and EUR 4.379, while NBG's shares fall to -0.60% and EUR 8.288.
In the high-cap index (-0.43% and 3,783 points), Viohalco's share shrinks to -2.44% and 5.59 euros, affected by Washington's threats of new tariffs. For the same reason, the subsidiary ELVALHALCOR (-3.1%) also "falls," while Cenergy "holds" at -0.75%. At the same time, shares of OTE, OPAP, PPC, Sarantis, Titan and Cenergy fall by up to -0.8%. On the flip side, Optima's shares gain +0.9% to reach EUR 13.4.
As for the mid-cap index (-0.03% and 2,451 points), Autohellas' shares stand out positively at +2% and 10.9 euros, with Intracom, Noval and Techniki Olympias' shares following at around +0.5%. In contrast, Intralot shares retreat to -0.9% and EUR 1.04. Ideal's shares are also down -0.8%, while shares of AVAX and Thrace Plastics lose -0.5% each.
